Agri-food leaders in Canada are calling upon the federal government to create an Agri-Food Growth Council to focus on actions to increase the potential of the agriculture industry as a growing powerhouse.
On April 20, the Public Policy Forum (PPF) and the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute (CAPI) released their joint report, titled Canada as an Agri-Food Powerhouse, as a response to Dominic Barton’s February report Unleashing The Growth Potential of Key Sectors. This new report is the result of coast-to-coast consultations on the subject, in which more than 150 sector leaders participated in roundtables held in eight cities: Charlottetown, Montreal, Ottawa, Guelph, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary and Vancouver.
